Our brief with regard to texture was 'To begin an exploration of the creative potential of clay as a medium through which one can express ideas and design concepts.'
We were to make a series of 15 textured tiles; 5 man-made, 5 natural world and 5 feeling/emotion/sensation. The tiles will be used later for glaze testing. I felt a great deal of time pressure on this task - there was little thinking or planning time as we launched into the activity and I was not the only one who felt somewhat wrong-footed. On reflection however, it was a really useful task and broke the ice a little within the group.
