The brief for this project was quite specific - 'Three pinched vessels of the same size and shape, coil a straight-sided form, coil using the upside-down technique to make a closed form, a slab-built form using mitred joints, a cylindrical slab built vessel and a slab-built lidded box.'
Once again, I was keenly aware of the time factor, having to make vessels without sufficient planning time. When working at home, there are no such time constraints, hence this task had a rushed feel to it. Although I am familiar with slab building, I have rarely used pinching and coiling techniques as my preferred method of making is throwing, which I find much more satisfying and a whole lot faster.
Lessons learnt however through this activity, although at times I felt like a contestant on the Great British Bake-Off - not enough time and an unsatisfactory end product.
