It’s the last month of the course and lots to do, remaking and refining my final pieces of work.
Thieveley Scout
Applied chrome, manganese and copper oxide and finished with a matt white stoneware glaze. Happy with this piece.
Hanging Valley
Many false starts on this, having made many, many maquettes. I’m finally happy with this piece but still need to do tests as I attempt to create a waterfall using glass or drippy glaze, could be tricky!
Fireman’s Helmet
Several maquettes have been made, the last one being fired at the minute. The final piece is made and ready to decorate depending on the results of the latest test, which was a disaster – too much chrome oxide or too heavy a coat of glaze turned it pink where it should be green. More tests done with oxides and glaze.
Towneley Oak
A good degree of success with the mocha diffusion technique, hoping I have time to refine the technique further. Happy with the mocha tests but need to work on the tree shapes. Should the mocha shapes be cuboid or dome?
Landscape Forms
I have yet to decide whether to put these in the final show, if time allows, I will remake and refine them.
