A Settle Saturday – one afternoon, 2 galleries

A bright day in Settle today to the launch of “Fresh Observations” – an exhibition showcasing Margaret Uttley’s new body of work based on her new location on the Isle of Lewis, complemented by the textures of Emmeline Butler’s limestone and moorland inspired ceramics.

Margaret’s paintings of rocky shorelines and verdant woodlands were appropriately complemented by Emmeline Butler’s textured vessels.

On to Gavagan Art Gallery where I was delighted to find a stunning array of work by both James Hake AND Edward Hughes. The forms and glazes on these pieces were breathtaking and it was so good to see them side by side. Satisfying jugs by Mike Dodd were also displayed alongside beautiful raku textured and layered vessels by Stephen Murfitt. Also, a selection of Anna Lambert’s work – a varied exhibition by some inspiring ceramic artists.
